There he was, center stage to a global audience – parachuting into the London Olympics with Queen Elizabeth, in a giddy witty sketch before an audience of billions.

For Craig and 007 fans, it was catnip – the star cemented into iconic status as global star.
Craig – like actors in the golden age of Hollywood – is locked in the public’s mind in a film persona as the cool, imperturbable agent (and sex symbol).
Less well-known is that Craig has been involved with a dozen charities and causes the last few years – despite a grueling back-to-back movie schedule.
In 2011 alone, Craig filmed The Girl with Dragon Tattoo, The Adventures of Tintin, Dream House, Cowboys & Aliens, and a short The Organ Grinder’s Monkey …
- and still made time to put his masculinity on the line for women’s rights, and shoot a two minute PSA to support International Women’s Day – in drag! (Image, below)
During the intense shoot earlier this year for the latest Bond film, “Skyfall,” he still made time for Everyone Matters – offering his name as Honorary Ambassador, and penning his own words to match the theme of the global Tolerance “Don’t Judge” campaign: “Compassion and empathy are a measure of our humanity.”
He gives more than lip service to those words. A few years ago, Royal National Lifeboat Institution was surprised to receive a call from Craig, who asked to personally visit one of the all-volunteer lifeboat stations whose life-risking work is rescuing and saving lives at sea. With the volunteers at Ramsgate Lifeboat Station, he took the all-weather lifeboat and 32 knot Atlantic inshore lifeboat through their paces.
Craig offered this public statement: “The tireless, unassuming, and above all brave work that the RNLI volunteers undertake everyday makes me proud and honoured to be associated with them. Please help them do their job – support your local lifeboat.”

He has also supported, spoken out about, appeared on behalf of Actors Fund of America, Afghanistan Relief Organization, Artists for Peace and Justice, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, ChildLine, Barnardo’s, Comic Relief, Dorset Wildlife Trust, Epilepsy Action, Neurofibromatosis Association, Variety Club, Worldwide Orphans Foundation.
With no disrespect to the legendary fictional secret service agent – Daniel Craig is a much bigger man than even James Bond.
He makes clear in words and actions that “Everyone Matters.”
